About our Founder
Cyd Igot
Cyd Igot, Founder of ALetterForYou.org, is best known to her communities around the world as a space for acceptance, healing and empowerment. Cyd worked in the mental health field with people processing trauma, rape, abuse and violence. Her work has also included disaster relief, including fundraising, logistics and delivery of food, clothing, construction materials, and medicine in the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). She has been known to float off to different parts of the world to spend time at orphanages making children laugh, teaching and making a difference where she can.
Exposure to different forms of trauma and the resilience of survivors revealed to her the destructive nature of isolation, silence and shame. Her project Aletterforyou.org was born from a commitment that survivors of violence, rape, trauma and bullying feel anonymously supported, safe and loved. To date, A Letter For You has collected almost 3,000 handwritten letters from a wide-range of people. Her commitment behind this project is to create anonymous support for survivors such that healing, empowerment and community is available to them. This is an opportunity for supporters of survivors and survivors alike to end silence and isolation. When she is not teaching or life coaching, Cyd collects letters for survivors and gathers evidence that there is good in the world.
